wacky food combos and idiocy

One of the neat things about working in a restaurant is that you get first hand exposure to all the messed up things people do to their food. Sometimes, it turns out that the diner is in fact insane. Breadsticks with butter? That's just not right. Pepsi with a slice of lemon? Scary. (Yeah, I know all about Pepsi Twist. That stuff freaks me the hell out. It's not even real lemon!! Yeurgh.) But if you ever have the opportunity, pancakes with peanut butter and syrup are actually pretty damn tasty. I just thought you should know. So are french fries with tartar sauce, but that should maybe be a different meal altogether. I don't think I can recommend peanut butter and tartar sauce together under any circumstances. *** I am officially Not At Work. Yesterday, there was a little confusion about that. See, I somehow misread the bookstore schedule, and thought I worked there today instead. Mary sounded pissed when she called, but she later told me not to worry, it wasn't the first time someone had done that. I stayed an hour late, and promised to work on July 4th, and it was all good. I knew it was going to happen sometime. I am an idiot. I have come to terms with my idiocy. I knew that at some point, I was going to get the schedules mixed up somehow. Maybe now that I've done it, I can stop worrying about it.
