a map
2009-06-02 3:02 p.m.

I rode my bike 32 miles yesterday. The coolest part of metro cycling is that I don't think I was ever more than 10 miles from my home, or more than two miles from a bubbler/bathroom. Just for my own interest, I wish GoogleMaps could deal with bike trails. I'd really like to keep track somehow of exactly where my rides go, but I use bike trails instead of city streets whenever I can. I understand why a map of car-prohibited paths would be completely counterintuitive to what GoogleMaps is all about, but what about MY needs?
(Here was an hourlong intermission while I discovered that Teh Internets really does have my back on this one. Gooo, Internets!)

Even though that counter says I only rode 27 miles, I swear my odometer said it was 32. There were a few places where I ended up backtracking, but didn't put that on the map. Also, I may not have put the bike paths in exactly the right places. I suppose it's equally possible that my odometer is faulty, and I have been LIVING A DAMN LIE since I installed it.

Swearing at the map site seems to have used up all my creativity for the day.
