Work is better, and so is my internal map.
2008-05-16 12:34 p.m.

After a month of being short-staffed, I finally get back to a mere 40-hour week. Also, since both the people who quit were day staff, I was able to cleverly negotiate myself into a few day shifts every week. I'm technically the "Night Lead," so I probably need to work nights sometimes in order to justify the extra money I get paid. But, trading even two night shifts each week essentially doubles my social options. (I used to have two nights off. Now I have two nights off, and two nights I'm done by six. Yaay for me.) Also, the day shifts mean I am no longer all about the evil, evil rotisserie oven. This pleases me.

I have a fully functioning bike now, and I'm constantly amazed every time another gap in my mental map of the city gets filled in. I knew a lot of point A to point B or C. Now I'm starting to understand exactly how B and C relate to each other. I have NO sense of direction, so it's always surprising to suddenly see a landmark I thought was miles away come into view from a new angle.
