LibraryThing!

I rediscovered an amazing site the other day. It's called LibraryThing and if it would have me, I want to marry it.You list ALL the books you own, see, and then you can see who else in the world has the same books! I share numerous titles with several complete strangers! Isn't that amazing? (When I went to register, I found out that the name "pscindy" was already taken. I found that highly unlikely, and it turned out I had registered about a year ago, and completely forgotten about it. I can totally see me saying, "Oh, WOW, I'm so doing this. But not right now." It is good to have an internet handle that no one else would ever have thought of.) It's an intimidating process, which is probably why I didn't get very far last year. I may have mentioned that I own a LOT of books. I've got the one large shelf entered, 109 titles. I still have two small shelves, one extra large shelf, and various assorted piles that have not yet been shelved. Coolest coincidence so far? My library shares a lot of titles with Monty. I used to read his now-extinct other blog, and I was always kind of amazed when he talked about books. He likes PG Wodehouse and Tim Powers? That's so cool! So do I! Now, I have concrete proof that we have similarly varied tastes. Is it creepy if I send him an message, telling him this? Right now, he's only tied for first place, but I'm only about 1/4 of the way through my catalog. Once he is indisputably in the lead, maybe I'll say hi. There's one thing that's kind of frustrating about LibraryThing. It lists every edition of every title separately. I understand that for serious collectors, that's the most logical way, but I'm more of an all-consuming book fiend. It makes me sad, to know that I will never be able to use my copy of Zod Wallop to connect with other users. As far as LibraryThing is concerned, I own the only copy of my edition on the planet. Which is, of course, a different kind of thrill, but it means no other William Browning Spencer fans will be able to find me. I also own the only first edition of Paul the Samurai, just so you know. I have too many non-internet things to get done today, so I need to step away from the computer for a little while. I have all the ISBNs of bookshelf number two written down, and awaiting entry. I hope to get to them sometime today.
