Yesterday was Phone Day. I called about a dozen aprtments, and learned that all the house-style apartments don't want to rent to me for Sept, because they would rather find someone to move in August 1. Logically, this means all I need to do is wait a week, and then other apartments will become available, but that's hard. I want to do this NOW. I could get things started on an apartment building, but I'd rather have a house. It's a totally arbitrary decision on my part, but I'm running with it.

Running in place, that is.

It's felt so good, to answer the phone this past week. "Thank you, but I am NOT interested in an interview. I have accepted a position elsewhere."

There was one place I couldn't say no to, though. The Madison Libary decided six weeks after I thought they were ignoring me that I get to be one of 72 people invited to take a written test. It's a long shot, I know. But wow, would it be awesome. I have to try. That's next week Wednesday. Tomorrow, I will call Madison librarians, and find out if they can tell me what to expect on the test.
