Help??
2003-03-05 11:37 a.m.

OK. I know the buttons on the left side don't look as pretty as they could. I'll make new buttons that actually line up with the background eventually. (DO NOT SPEAK TO ME OF LAYERS!! As far as I know, "layers" are an effect achieved in Dreamweaver. Yes, they are much easier and look a lot better, but the point of the exercise is for me to make a whole page in HTML.)

The effect I'm going for here is one row of a spiral design across the top left edge, extending to more or less the end of the text. Then, there is a long red box on the right edge, full of links. In a perfect world, the red box would exactly reach the edge of the "notebook," but due to different monitor sizes and such, this probably cannot be. Right now, it looks almost right on Drew's computer.

I'm thinking about just posting my phone number, and running a 24-hour support line to make my page look good for everyone.

*RING*

"Oh, hi, Hwaaah. Yeah, let me check my notes....OK. Refresh it, and you should be all set."

*RING*

"Hey, mrflibble. Well, I just set it for someone else, but if you can wait 10 minutes, I'll do yours next."

No, actually, that's probably a really silly idea, now that I think about it. It's MY page! I should make it so it looks good on my monitor, and screw all y'all.

No, I don't want to do that either. In the interest of my sanity, though, please drop me an e-mail or a note in the guestbook to let me know what you see. Apporoximately how much space is there between the red box and the "notebook?" Where does the spiral part of the notebook end, in your world? How many "rings" short of the text is it, or does it go onto a second line? Does any of it overlap in unpleasant ways? Also, is the font different in the box and the notebook? (Should be "comic sans" in the main text)

Again, I know the buttons on the left look a little ass-y right now, I'm ON that already. Also, do the links in the red box all work? (If you're not linked yet, rest assured, you will be, I promise.)

Oh, and if you happen to be plenz, or someone else who knows more of this strange magic called HTML than I do, any advice at all on reaching a design that works for the most people possible would be appreciated.
