Yup. That's right. I'm as surprised as you are. All summer, I've been putting money aside, going without all sorts of other things, just so I could get $100 a week into savings. The Day We Get a Computer was a nebulous, almost mythical thing that would happen someday. It's still kinda hard to believe it finally happened.

I'm not totally happy about how it happened. D. got a credit card yesterday. Apparently, he can't get a BestBuy card, but they referred him to another place that gave him $2000. And no, I don't know what sort of crack they were smoking.

He spent $1800 yesterday. I keep trying to remind myself that there's $700 in savings, and I've still got the gubment money coming, and maybe another $300 by the time that first bill comes. I'll be able to make a lot of that $1800 go away almost instantly. But I can't help cringeing. $1800, yo. Ouch.

It's a pretty sweet computer, though. 1 gig processor, 128 MB memory, CDRW, DVD, and a monitor the size of Texas. And my, is it fast. And it will most definitely be paid for by Christmas.

I don't think I mentioned here yet, but D. did get that JMS job. So, really, money is not an issue. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Wanna hear something funny?

D. bought a pile of games (including The Sims for me, woot woot!) but he didn't buy DiabloII. He says he's sick of playing by himself, and when he wants to play, he'll go over to the HAT. I'll have to buy it myself now. The bear will not be denied!! Oh, wait. You don't know what I'm talking about. Uh, my Druid has this bear he summons, see, and the bear is like level 24ish, and he totally kicks ass. Um, yeah.

Well, D. wants to go be social now, so I'm gonna cut this short.
