My car was everyone's bitch.
2001-05-16 8:46 p.m.

Goddamn I did a lot today. I'm worn out all over again, just thinking about it.

I swear, I drove to every goddamn place in town twice. Paul's. The Treasury. BT's. Bookworld. Alice and Yahn's. Wej's. Back to the Treasury.

Then, there was a comparatively relaxing 3-hour period while I scrubbed the toilet and bathroom sink, did the dishes, rinsed out the recyclables, cleaned the stovetop, collected the laundry, mopped the bathroom and kitchen, and hauled the laundry out to the car.

Then, I was back on the road. Drove to DiabloLand. Figured out that even though I was misremembering the original estimate on the car, the finances for the month were probably still if not rosy, at least somwhat pinkish. Wrote out a bunch of checks to assorted people. Actually enjoyed the process. Whee! I am a responsible citizen again! And, I've still got money in my account! Granted, that particular money is technically already spent, but there's still so much more coming in this month! By the end of the month, everything will be paid, and I'll still have at least $600 to fix my car! Woohoo!

Conferred with D. Told him that I'd like to get at least $500 to just sit in savings again first, but then we could go ahead and start saving for a new computer. If he keeps up the 12-hour shifts from hell, we'll be able to do it by the end of the summer. Again, Woohoo!

Drove D. and Dante to work. Drove to bank. Drove to K-mart. Drove home, via postoffice, to mail all the bills I was so happy to be paying.

Enjoyed the sparkling clean kitchen floor for 15 minutes. Tried to reheat some garlic bread, but horribly overcooked it. Decided I wasn't that hungry anyway. Drove to the college to pick up Alice for her break. We got A&W, and then she smoked, while I realized for the first time exactly how much I had done so far today. Told Alice all about it, several times. OK. I had two hits. But that's it, I swear.

Drove Alice back to work. Drove to Wej's, to pick up KC and a Nintendo. Drove to Alice and Yahn's, to exchange said Nintendo for KC's laundry. Drove to laundromat. Started laundry, and walked to K-mart with KC. Back at Laundromat, worked on crossword puzzles with KC. Folded laundry. Dropped KC and her laundry at her place. Honestly planned to finish cleaning.

Made bed with clean sheets. Looked at living room. Yeah, it could use a sweeping. But at least dust doesn't smell. The house wasn't clean, but it wasn't disgusting either. Decided to maybe sweep tomorrow. Took a well-deserved Diaryland break.

And, well, that brings us to here. Just look at that. I swear, I drove 200 miles today. All of it in Cowtown. My car was everyone's bitch. Not that I mind. I spent a long damn time without a car. Karmically, I probably still owe a couple dozen rides to people. And a lot of that driving, I would have done anyway. But damn. I'm so tired right now. All I did today was drive. Why am I so tired? Maybe I'm feeling my car's exhaustion too, or something.
