A joyful carol we sing tonight or, Ana's thoughts about Christmas: Part the First.

"Father Christmas/give us your money/Don't mess around with those silly toys/We're gonna beat you up/if you don't hand it over/we want your bread so we're making some noise/give all the toys/to the little rich boys"So, I've got a prediction. In Diaryland over the next month, we're gonna see 3612 entries called "Fa la la la la la" (or another equally well known carol); 941 "There's no place like home for the holidays" (or other semi-obscure carols); 1407 "Fa la fucking la" (obvious Christmas reference, but also just a little edgy, the way the kids like it these days); and 4613 "i hAte my Familly noone unnderStnads me!"(Uh, is it too rude if I call this one same old same old? Yeah, I think so too, but I'm gonna leave it.) Maybe there will also be a dozen or so who quote The Kinks, but I'd like to think I get to be the first. Such a good song, I believe I might just sing a little more for you. "Give my daddy a job cuz he needs one/He's got lots of mouths to feed/and if you've got one I'd like a machine gun/so I can scare all the kids on the street...." "Father Christmas." The Kinks. Look it up. Play it often. And have yourself a merry little Christmas.
