Lusy called me at 9:30. I heard the phone ring, and because I knew it would be her, I made the deliberate decision not to answer it. But then I was awake. Didn't get to sleep till 3, because I thought today would finally be my day to sleep in, but there I was awake and can't get back to sleep at 9:30. I spent two hours thinking increasingly bitter things about the place I work.

"Fuck you! I've already worked 30 hours this week, and I'll get at least 20 more this weekend. I only get one day off a week, so I really do need today off pretty damn desperately. I need to not be a waitress for one day. Is that really so much to ask? I can't work today. I quite simply can not. I've done three double shifts this week already, and you're going to make me do another one tomorrow, and I just can't take it! Today just might be the day I haul off and slap one of the regulars silly if you make me come in! For the love of God, I can't work today!"

Honestly, it's reaching the point where I'm starting to wish she would hire someone incompetent, just for a month or two, so I could maybe get some time off.

So, I waited until 11 to call her back, hoping that she'd be able to find someone else. Bless Pearl's heart, she agreed to work tonight. I could kiss her.

I made all the other calls I had to make. I did laundry in the three hour break between shifts yesterday, and the apartment is still fairly clean from earlier this week. After I drop D. off at work, I'll have to drive to Zenith to renew my birth control, but that's it! All my obligations will be fulfilled by 3:30 this afternoon! Nages is coming up for the weekend, and he's bringing me drugs! Life is good.
