Mom and Dad: Spoke to 4 weeks ago. Think we're moving to Chicago at the end of summer.

Jack and Anne: Wrote to two weeks ago. Think we're moving to Cowtown because D. wants out ASAP.

Nicholas: Spoke to one week ago. Thinks we're moving to Cowtown because we might be booted out of current apartment.

Arthur and Christine: Spoke to four days ago. Think we're moving to Chicago.

Everyone Ana works with: Mentioned Chicago at end of summer to two people yesterday. Today, everyone knew.

Ana and D: Last conferred at 4pm yesterday. A credit card rejection note came in the mail for D. Without said credit card to max out, our intrepid heroes realized there is very little chance of them making Chicago by August. (Current savings: $350. Estimated savings by August 1: maybe $1500, minus whatever would be spent during apartment finding trip in mid July. Bare minimum amount Ana wants before attempting The Big City: $2000.)

The plan of the moment is to look at finances when Ana pays the rent June 1st. If it looks like there could be $1000 by July 1, we will say screw it, give the month's notice here, and move to Cowtown July 1st. If it doesn't, we will definitely move there August 1st.

I just wish there weren't quite so many people at different levels of knowledge here. It's going to take me forever to bring everyone up to date. Next time we plan on moving, I swear no one will hear anything about it till it's already happened.

***

It's funny. When D. first mentioned Chicago, I was scared. Then, he suggested Cowtown, and I was bummed. Then, it was Chicago again, and I was terrified, but trying very hard not to be. It almost worked. Now, it's Cowtown, and I'm bummed again. He's right. I'm impossible.

He took the easy way out, making me make the decision. I could be all nonchalant about this too, if I was able to pretend it wasn't my choice.
