Gaah! Too...Many...Journals! Brain Melting!!

I was quite foolish just now. I had heard that Kymm maintained a list of the Best and Brightest. But goddamn. She's got like 30 of the damn things. And they're probably all good. I picked one randomly and that person also had a list of her favorites. If I become addicted to all of them, I'll never get anything done. I think I was much happier believing there were only like 5 good journals in the whole world and a pile of DiaryLand people, and I had somehow already stumbled onto the good ones. "Yup," I told myself. "I've found the Pinnacle of Journaling completely by accident. How clever of me."

Oh, what a fool I was. ("I was young and foolish then, I feel old and foolish now...") I've now managed to sort of convince myself that these legions of cool people probably aren't worth my time. They will just distract me from my own "writing." Yeah, that's the ticket.

...

I learned when I was in the journalling forum the other day that there's actually a name for this whole stepping-outside-the-journal-to-look-at-the-journal-process thing that I do. The kids on the street call it "Meta." Well, I'm the queen of Meta, baybee. I will get meta-eval on yo' asses. Oh, yes I will.

I dunno. I guess it just amused me that there's actually a name for it. I was pretty sure it wasn't a completely original line of thought, but I never thought it was commonplace enough to merit a slang name.

...

I've also been thinking about how I'd kinda like to change my format. I know I don't have the technology to add artwork. (Well, ok. I probably do have the technology. I just don't understand it.) But it might be nice to figure out how to have a permanent list of links on the side. I am frightened of these things called "frames" and "JPEGs" I understand vaguely what they are, but using them intimidates me. What I'd really like is to be able to use this DiaryLand template, but add other features to it. I wonder if that is possible. I will have to look into it.
