Arthur came over last night. Apparently, he and Christine have to move, because their house is being sold. The owner of their house owns several houses in the area, and if they buy one of them, he will use the past year of rent as a down payment. They don't want to buy their current house, because it's a duplex. They're looking at a few houses in Random. Blah. I feel bad enough that I only manage to get over there once or twice a week, and they live only a few blocks away. If they live 10 miles away, I won't be able to stop over and hang out for an hour on my way to work anymore.

So, the only people we really know in the area are moving inconveniently far away. I drive D. to work at 7, hours before any sane person would want company. I end up in Random doing errands during normal hours once a week. Some days, I wouldn't have time to stop and visit, and some days, they will have other plans. I guess this is another sign that It Is Time To Move.

I kidded Arthur about moving to Cowtown with us. He said he would in a heartbeat, but first he has to complete a year of classes at the local tech college. (He's another Tau alum who never graduated) Once he has the piece of paper, he can get a decent job somewhere besides the casino, and support Christine and the kids in the style to which they are accustomed.

Interesting. Though Arthur has basically my life attitude about nearly everything (involved with probably the wrong someone; a former druggie who misses the good life; thinking too damn much) I find it strangely comforting that he too would like to live in Cowtown. Maybe it's not a totally insane idea after all.
