Never! Never, never, never!

D. told me last night that his hours have been cut. For who knows how long, he'll work 30 hours a week, instead of 40. This sucks, but it has the potential to suck a lot more.According to the budget I had figured out, we could pay the bills, make the car payments, and still save about $200/month towards the Escape NowhereLand Fund. The hours cut will mean about $200/month less. We should still be OK (knock on wood) but ONCE AGAIN moving has to be delayed indefinitely. See? This is my life. When I first started ranting about how much trouble we were having moving, you probably didn't believe me. Now, maybe you understand. We can't even get the start of a remotely reasonable lump sum together, before something happens. Maybe if we could get even $500 into savings between things going badly, it would be different. There's $250 in our savings account right now. If I'm really, amazingly lucky, it will stay at that amount indefinitely (knock on wood). If not, something will happen this week that requires at least $200. D. says not to worry. The shorter hours might only be for a week or so. But, he's only been there 8 months, and he's late a lot. If the situation gets worse before it gets better, he could be one of the first ones fully laid off. Ana begins slamming her head into the keyboard, a la Sesame Street's Don Music. We will NEVER escape this damn town! Never! Never! Never!
